Name: Ray Darby

Position: Managing Partner

Qualifications: Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales

Profile: Ray was born in Bolton and educated at Bolton School.  He joined Bentleys in 1978 after a period as a company accountant for a large local business and was made a partner in that year.

Ray’s wide ranging portfolio of clients comprises of personal tax clients right through to audits of large companies and he has a growing number of clients in the London area which he services on a regular basis.

Ray also looks after staffing issues for the partnership.

Name: Keith Acton

Position: Senior Partner

Qualifications: Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales

Profile: Keith joined Bentleys in May 1974 and has been a partner since 1975. In addition to managing a very broad portfolio of clients Keith is responsible for practice development, ensuring that Bentleys provides the services its clients’ need. He also supervises the IT systems requirement of the practice.

Name: John Shaw

Position: Partner

Qualifications: BA (Hons). Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales

Profile: John graduated from Nottingham University with an Honours Degree on Industrial Economics and Accountancy.

He then trained and qualified with Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) before joining Bentleys in 1980.

John has a varied portfolio of clients. He has specialist knowledge and experience in advising charities and has a number of national and local charities amongst his client base.

Name: Jonathan Hargraves

Position: Partner

Qualifications: BA (Hons). Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales

Profile: Jonathan trained with Touche Ross and joined Bentleys after qualifying in 1991. He became a partner in 1996. Jonathan has a special interest in audit regulation and compliance.

His clients include a broad mix of start ups, sole traders, family businesses, expanding companies and personal tax clients.

Name: Mike Turner

Position: Partner

Qualifications: Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants

Profile: Mike joined Bentleys in 1994 and became their fifth partner in 2005. He has over twenty years experience working with owner managed SME businesses in the Manchester area.

During the past five years he has worked as an audit manager, undertaking a quality control role.

He is also the Finance Director for the Bolton Town Centre Management Company, a non profit making company whose aim is to revitalise the town centre.
